About the Event
An ode to our childhood discovery of vowels and consonants, PHONICS features works that amplify the rhythms and timbres of speech, each using a different medium of performance to explore the interaction between sound and sense. There will be contemporary settings of texts for flute, voice, and piano; fascinating acoustic and electronic collages of words; and the premiere of a new album of poetry.
